The Human Rights Institute (HRI) is a global leader in human rights advocacy, research, education, and scholarship. Our team of advocates, educators, and lawyers has deep expertise working around the world in diverse areas, including factfinding, war crimes, armed conflict and counterterrorism, fair trials, economic and social rights, accountability, mental health, and critical approaches to human rights. HRI advances social justice through four primary modes of work: factfinding and analysis; strategic and innovative advocacy; systemic shifts; and empowerment and education.
We conduct interdisciplinary and collaborative investigations and analyses of complex and emerging human rights issues to expose abuse
We use a range of traditional and innovative advocacy methods at local, national, and international levels to prevent, end, and remedy human rights violations
We research, critique, and innovate in human rights practice to promote systemic change in the human rights field
We work with impacted communities, civil society, students, and lawyers so those most directly affected by human rights violations can drive social change
