The Human Rights Institute (HRI) holds corporations to account for human rights abuses and seeks to recalibrate the power imbalances that allow companies to violate human rights with impunity. HRI uses innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to counter the harms caused by business operations and development. We publish widely applicable policy analyses and conduct site-specific projects to strengthen the power of communities harmed by resource extraction and development projects. HRI and the Human Rights Clinic also assist impacted groups in their pursuit of economic, social, and environmental justice. Our work seeks to positively influence international financial institutions, multi-stakeholder mechanisms, private corporations, and governments.
