Yara Sallam
Yara Sallam is an Egyptian feminist living next to what she loves the most; the Red Sea. For over 16 years Yara has been working on diverse human and women’s rights issues, including criminal justice, regional and international human rights mechanisms, transitional justice, freedom of religion and belief, and women human rights defenders. For the past decade she has been interested in wellbeing, care and healing in feminist and activist circles through research, writing and facilitation. She is the author of “Even the Finest of Warriors”, and currently is leading the Peer to Peer Support Initiative within the Human Rights Resilience Project.
She earned two degrees of law (LL. B): License of Law from Cairo University in Egypt and Maîtrise of Commercial Law from Paris I University Pantheon Sorbonne in France in 2007. She has also been awarded a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in International Human Rights Law at the Law School of Notre Dame University, in the U.S. (2010).
