Rachael Osgood serves as Program Administrator for the Smith Family Human Rights Clinic. Her work bridges strategic human rights research and public-interest practice, with a particular focus on the conditions that shape the meaningful implementation of rights-based legal remedies. Rachael received her M.A. in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University's Institute for the Study of Human Rights. She also holds an honors degree in Sustainable Development and Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh.

Prior to joining Columbia, Rachael worked as a program manager and policy researcher in the United Kingdom and United States. This experience includes international civil society coordination and the management of complex public-interest programs. 

Her research examines how human rights frameworks operate in practice, particularly in contexts shaped by environmental conflict, transitional justice, and governance challenges. To date, these projects have addressed violence against human rights defenders, the implementation of rights-based climate remedies, the treatment of asylum seekers in Scotland, and effective approaches to community-based impact evaluation.
